Golfing vacations come in great packages at the Northstar at Tahoe golf course in California, where an 18-hole course blends gently into the background of extremely gorgeous scenery near Lake Tahoe. Equally as accommodating amenities and services combine with a course that really challenges every skill each golfer possesses.
The course was designed by famous designer, Robert Graves. It is very interactive, allowing the features to provide a continually flowing movement of moves over completely natural and attractive terrain. In fact, the entire course covers some six thousand and seven hundred yards of teeing excitement. Rated at 72.4, certain fairways, such as the 'mountain nine' and the 'meadow nine' demand precision and concentration to ensure tight play are carefully done. Golfers can let rip whilst showing off their best skills. In fact, this is where the course's technology comes into play. Aerial photographic maps and GPS coordinates can be rented for an extra charge, adding strategy to an already challenging game.
Lessons are also a part of Northstar's commitment to its visitors. Free sessions are available each Wednesday from the beginning of June to September, starting at 1pm. Special ladies evenings run every Thursday from 5pm until 7pm, including complementary tips from professionals, free balls and refreshments. Group lessons are also available upon request.
The Northstar also offers tournament and group golfing packages, including their famous Tahoe Restaurant Cup, where all money is given to the local humane society in Truckee. Private tournaments are common place, accommodating from sixteen to one hundred and forty four people. All the details are carefully taken care of by experienced and attentive staff, providing tee times, scoring, cart tagging, contests, lunches and after the game barbeque, buffet or awards dinners.
Prices at the course vary, but despite reservations, no extra charges are calculated as long as cancellations are done with forty eight hours ahead of the reserved tee dates and times. However, no reservations are accepted for single golfers. They have to accept tee times on a first come, first serve basis. Otherwise green fees are available from spring to summer, starting at $49; special fees apply for early bird sessions and all carts are included. Kids age sixteen and under can play after 1pm for only $39, but always in the company of an adult. Club and cart rentals start at $10 and rider fees do apply. Use of the driving range begins at $50.
Special golfing vacation packages are available in resort studios for as little as $67 per golfer or $134 per studio for two night's stay. Sharing golfers share a cart and tee times begin at 12pm. Unused tees will be compensated for with a resort credit card. Available throughout the summer, there are also three night packages for weekends, but all packages can be extended as required.
