The Cayote Moon Golf Course is set in the Truckee District of California, and renowned amongst users as the perfect spot for golfing vacations. In fact, it is managed and maintained by the Tahoe Mountain Club, who have a series of lodgings and other facilities available to make such holidays much more than just golf, including any type of outdoor sport or activity that anyone can imagine. Visitors come from across the state to enjoy its pleasures and learn what it is like to play a course that has been designed by one of the world's best golfers.
The course was designed by Brad Bell, offering two hundred and fifty acres of incredibly beautiful landscape. The course runs across hills, past granite ridges and bluffs, circling round Trout Creek. It is dotted with pine trees, wildflowers and even an animal or two.
Facilities include a restaurant, bar, golf store, warming stations, putting greens, a chipping station and practice bunkers. There are five tees, including two levels kept free for women only. Each one ranges from five thousand to seven thousand yards of exciting fun, with ratings ranging from sixty eight to seventy three. Slope ratings average around one hundred and thirty four.
The most sought after hole is the thirteenth, a challenge for everyone, covering some two hundred and twenty-seven yards at par three, and where the shot will drop the ball some two hundred feet into a rectangular greenway alongside the creek. According to professionals, it is one hole that needs due attention and can easily make even the best falter under pressure.
The course is located just a short drive from Reno and Lake Tahoe. Fees range from $100 to $160 and include carts when available.
