You can travel to Lake Tahoe by plane, train or automobile or by any combination of these. The popular area is located on the border between California and Nevada about 30 miles west of Reno, Nevada and about 200 miles east of San Francisco. By car, you can travel from Reno, Sacramento or San Francisco along Interstate 80 to California State Highway 267.
If you would rather leave the driving to someone else, you can take the bus. The Bay Area Ski Bus can pick you up in the cities of Belmont, Corte Madera, Novato, Oakland, Pleasanton, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Walnut Creek. The NAC SKI picks up passengers from Berkeley, Concord, Dublin, Milpitas, Pleasanton, Redwood City, San Francisco, San Jose, and San Mateo and sometimes in Sacramento.
By commercial air flights, you can travel to Sacramento, California or Reno, Nevada. And by train, the Amtrak California Zephyr Route stops in Truckee approximately 30 miles away.
