There is plenty to do and more to see in Virginia City, Nevada. Here you can visit underground mines, "belly up to the bar" in historic saloons, tour stately mansions and wander through old cemeteries. You can take a walking tour of the entire town and/or ride the Virginia and Truckee Steam train or take the trolley ride.

Horse drawn carriage rides are available for a tour of Virginia City. You can tour the Chollar Mine or browse through the exhibits and collection of antique fire fighting equipment at the Comstock Firemen's Museum.

Other interesting and informative museums include the Grant's General Store and Free Museum, the Julia Bulette Red Light Museum and Territorial Enterprise Mark Twain Museum. Check out the Victorian four-story school building that was built in 1876 and was used until 1936. There are historical displays of western gaming tables and slot machines. The Storey County Courthouse is one of the most elaborate period courthouses in Nevada. And uniquely – the statue of justice in this courthouse is not blindfolded.

There are a total of thirty-one cemeteries. Strolling through the cemeteries and reading the headstones is one way to step back in time and let your imagination run wild with stories of days gone by.
